Covid Vaccine and Microchips
What undoubtedly impacted our lives recently, is the coronavirus pandemic. Several studies and much research have been made regarding the virus and the vaccine. Actually, it is all still being studied. Unfortunately, with new information occurring in the media, fake news comes along, too. One of the most widespread misinformation about the covid vaccine is that people get a microchip injected into their arms along with the vaccine. This then occurred all over the internet as people with large numbers of followers shared it on their social media. For example, a video of Bill Gates talking about the side effects of the vaccine and also dismissing the rumours of microchipping people has been shared by 'Kingbach' on his Instagram with a description saying: "I remember when I told my first lie". This account has more than 19 million followers and lots of them added the video to their Instagram stories. Formula 1 star, Lewis Hamilton was one of the people who shared the video with this exact caption on his Instagram account with 18 million as well. Even though he eventually deleted the post and stated that he hadn’t noticed the caption and that he apologizes, millions of other people have already seen the video. As you can see, nothing can prevent fake news from spreading so easily. There was no proof or any other reason to believe that people are being microchipped. However, this lie was portrayed so much in the media that I believe you have heard about it, too. This whole situation resulted in people being afraid to get vaccinated or even thinking that the virus does not exist and is just an excuse to get everyone chipped so they can be controlled by the government. The studies say that the vaccine is a great way to slow down the pandemic and helps to overcome the illness more easily. From this, we can assume that this piece of misinformation actually influenced the well-being and health of millions of people worldwide and this is the main reason why I think we should try to eliminate the spreading of fake news.
