Other Issues in Media and Society

If you are interested in all types of media problems and would like to read about other interesting topics as well, I will leave my recommendations down below. All of these blogs taught me something new and I highly suggest you take a look at them.


1. LGBTQ+ and Their Representation in the Media
This blog raises awareness about the queer community and talks about how the representation of the community in the media affects people and their perception of LGBTQ+. There are also discussed some tv shows and movies so you can simply learn more by watching them.

2. Backstage Pass (Social Media vs Reality)
An interesting topic of fake reality on Instagram and other social media. You can learn more about faking followers, using photoshop, and the consequences it has on mental health.

This is a really great blog where the author warns about gender stereotypes in the media, especially in cartoons. These stereotypes affect children from a young age. After reading this blog, I realized how much these cartoons affect our perception of gender roles.

In this blog, you learn what role social media play in setting new beauty standards, what tools people use to edit their photos, how edited photos on social media affect people, and if you know the Kardashians, you can even read about one of their interviews where they (don't) talk about their surgeries. 

If you ever used (or even just thought about using) dating apps, I suggest you read this blog. You can find there interesting articles about some real-life stories that happened while dating online or take a look at how weapons are being hidden in typical women's items for women to self-defense themselves.
